The Dish & the Spoon

"(CRITICS' PICK!) Beautifully photographed, THE DISH & THE SPOON is awash in images of rain-soaked streets and gray wintry skies. In a recurrent visual motif that deepens the atmosphere of wistful regret, flocks of Canada geese are shown taking flight. The odd couple... make a plaintively appealing pair."
- Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES

"Lovely, freewheeling... The never-quite lovers riff away, channeling their inner Charlie Chaplins and swapping the kind of crisp, batty and original boy-girl dialogue that Hollywood rom-coms would risk if they had an ounce of heart or wit. The performances are so alive to the pleasure of their making..."
- Steve Dollar, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

"Gerwig, charmingly unflappable in GREENBERG, lets it all hang out here, unafraid to sacrifice likability to over-the-top hysteria as someone who cannot control herself, despite a lingering sense of her own absurdity. Alexander proves a worthily understated foil, his self-deprecatory whimsy recalling that of a young Johnny Depp."
- Ronnie Scheib, VARIETY

"Atmospheric… the two leads are compellingly watchable."
- Bilge Ebiri, NEW YORK MAGAZINE

An unconventional romance for Valentine's Day, THE DISH & THE SPOON is a poignant comedy from filmmaker Alison Bagnall (PIGGIE, co-writer of BUFFALO '66). The affectionate, artful favorite of SXSW, Sidewalk, AFI Fest and London makes its NYC theatrical premiere with a week-long run, February 10 - 16.

Greta Gerwig (GREENBERG, HANNAH TAKES THE STAIRS, and Woody Allen's upcoming NERO FIDDLED) is Rose, a young woman descending into an emotional tailspin after her husband admits to infidelity. Hell-bent on revenge, she drives to a boarded-up Delaware seaside town to hunt down the other woman. Instead, she discovers a dandy British teen (BRIGHT STAR's Olly Alexander) stranded on the beach. This chatty lost boy becomes her constant companion and caretaker, the mismatched pair soon stumbling through a series of frolicsome adventures that ignites a bittersweet, perhaps imaginary affair.

Featuring supporting performances by Eleonore Hendricks (BAD FEVER) and co-producer Amy Seimetz (A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE), the film is also gorgeously photographed by up-and-comer Mark Schwartzbard (2012 Spirit Award nominee THINK OF ME, and 2012 Sundance selection THE COMEDY).

92 minutes. In English. Presented in Blu-ray. Unrated.
